Educating Communities on Ocean and Marine Life Conservation

Located at the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawai'i Authority, in the west coast of the Island of Hawai'i, our facilities are part of a conglomerate of industries involved in energy and ocean related research. This ideal location provides is with three essential ingredients:

How You Can Help

The infrastructure needed to deliver sea water directly into the laboratory.

The networking opportunities created by working in the same site as other enterprises involved in ocean friendly technologies.

Learn from our community, schools, and other groups dedicated to preserving and restoring our natural resources, and in turn share our work with others.

We aim to grow resilient strains of coral using among other technologies, thermal stresses and light cycles. The resulting specimens will be able to withstand the predicted changes in the environment. Nations that are ready to actively restore their reefs could use these resilient corals to seed artificial reefs.
